"What's wrong? You want to know what's wrong, Spike? I'll tell you what's wrong! THIS!" The white mare points to a large scroll, a list of names and dress details on it. "It's the same thing every year! Everypony out there is getting with their special somepony, happily wasting the day away in bliss. And me? I'm stuck in here, working my tail off to make all these dresses and suits for them! Everypony gets their happy Hearts and Hooves day except for me!" She looks at the dragon, tears welling up behind the designer glasses. "Oh, there are suitors to be sure. Giving me two bit flowers and cheap chocolates. Wanting to be seen with the Rarity, the pony of fashion and looks. Or Rarity, an Element of Harmony. But do they care about me? Do they care about Rarity the Unicorn? Oh, no. She's not important. She's not special. She's just a trend. A fashion statement! A temporary interest! THAT'S WHAT'S WRONG!" Her horn glows brightly lifting Spike up by the neck. "YOU are no better than the rest of them! And I've had enough of you and I pretending otherwise!" She walks to the window to open it, letting the cool night air flow though the boutique, "Now, IF you don't mind, I am VERY busy! Good. Day." She throws the dragon out the window and into the snow covered ground outside. the window closes with a sharp thud, and the pony trots back inside.
She stops as something catches her eye, the package that Spike had brought with him. She sighs and goes over to it, opening it up. Inside is a golden necklace, with the Fire Ruby nestled into it as the centerpiece. It's been polished and shined, looking as if it was brand new compared to the condition it was in before the thing went missing. Rarity's jaw dropped. She slowly picked it up in her magic, and approaches the mirror. She slips the necklace on, and gazes at her reflection in the mirror. She stands there, wearing the necklace for a few moments, before it hits her. She suddenly turns and bolts out of the boutique, rushing for the spot where she saw Spike land. He wasn't there, but his prints wandered away. Rarity quickly runs after him, her breathing growing heavy from the run.
The falling snow makes her journey come to an end, as the tracks quickly vanish beneath more of the white flakes. It wasn't the direction of the library, or any known friends Spike would go to. Lost on how to find him, and grieved at her treatment of the young dragon, Rarity slowly stops beneath the street light in the town center. Ignoring all the hearts and hooves decorations around her, the unicorn looks down at the red jewel adorned her neck. She slowly reaches up to it, the tears coming again and slowly cascading over her cheeks as the realization of her mistake becomes more real.
It's been awhile since I did a sad picture. Winter is close by, and it always brings me to the nightly wonderland moods happy or sad, which is what I wanted to bring here. I'm not sure if I'm satisfied with the background, but it does set a mood. I may redo the background later.
As for why Rarity is sad? Of course it involves Spike (And inspiration from sad fan fics.), and as for what happened? I'll let you guys come up with something. From me it's hurtful words.
Hopefully, this will be a good end of the year with all that happened this year. (That is if the Mayans really wasn't crazy)

Ok here's a story behind this... Open up with Rarity walking through the snow, at one point she stops and takes a look at her pendant. Looking into the jewel she see's the moment where Spike had given it to her, and professed his love towards her. He Leans in, whispers silently,"let this necklace be a token of my love to you, so you know how I feel towards you. I want you to be in my life from now on." Even though it was in the past, it still brings tears to Rarity's eyes. She remembers that day well, for it was the day prior she received the terrible news about Spike. He had been killed in battle. The memory burned within Rarity's mind, her heart ached in sorrow, as crystal clear tears ran down her cheek, freezing to her face in the cold. With a swift motion, she ripped the pedant off and tossed it into the snowfall. With one last glance, she mumbled quietly under her breath, " I'm sorry Spike...for not being there for you." Then continue to trod into the winter night.
